A RECORD-SETTING RADIOTHON:
CHARLESTON MEDIA SOLUTIONS RADIO STATIONS RAISE $355,559 for MUSC SHAWN JENKINS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Charleston, SC (March 23, 2025) – Over Thursday, March 20 and Friday, March 21, hundreds of calls, texts and clicks added up to a record amount of donations, helping children and families from all over the Lowcountry.

Each year, three Charleston Media Solutions radio stations, 92.5 Kickin’ Country, Mix 95.9 and Star 99.7, broadcast live from the lobby of the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, raising money for South Carolina’s top-ranked hospital. This year’s two-day, 26-hour “Cares for Kids” Radiothon raised a record $355,559 – a $120,000 increase in donations over the previous year. The amount raises the five-year “Cares for Kids” Radiothon total to just over $1 million dollars.

Charleston Media Solutions President Paul O’Malley said, “We are humbled by the inspiring stories of the families and children at MUSC, and it is amazing to see how big a heart the Charleston community has in personally giving to these kids.”

The MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital treats more than 200,000 children each year. No child is ever turned away because of their family’s inability to pay. In addition to earning a number of other nationwide rankings, the hospital’s Pediatric Cardiology & Heart Surgery program was recently named No. 2 in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

Charleston Media Solutions is a proud supporter of the Children’s Hospital and will return to downtown Charleston for a sixth “Cares for Kids” Radiothon in March of 2026.

THE NEW GUY IN TOWN

Charleston, SC (March 10, 2025) – The top-rated local morning show in the Lowcountry has a new member. Tanya Brown and Brooke Ryan welcome the NEXT GUY on Mix 95.9’s Two Girls and a Guy Morning Show… JAY SHADIX! Shadix has been filling in on Two Girls and a Guy since the sudden passing of Mike Edwards this past December. Edwards created the 2GG brand and was “The Guy” on the show for over a decade. Why is Jay the right person to fill those shoes? Brooke Ryan believes it’s because of the comfort Jay brings, having filled in on the show over the years, and his long relationship with the team. Ryan commented “The most exciting part for me is that while no one will ever replace Mike (nor would we ever want someone to), Jay is a great addition and will be a different kind of “Guy” for the show.” Tanya Brown added, “Jay is not here to replace, he’s here for his own light to shine. Welcome to Two Girls and a Guy Jay! I’m looking forward to years of laughter as a team.” A Goose Creek High graduate, Jay, his wife and son reside in Summerville. An Army veteran, Shadix is also an actor, having roles in feature films like ‘Red Notice’ and ‘The Menu’ as well as the locally filmed ‘Outer Banks’ series on Netflix.  Jay was even Peyton Manning’s body double for a series of Super Bowl commercials. In accepting his new role, Jay stated “I’m incredibly honored to join Tanya and Brooke on Two Girls and A Guy on Mix 95.9. No one can truly fill Mike Edwards’ shoes. He was a legend.  I’m going to do my best to bring laughter, heart and maybe just a little chaos— because I think Mike would’ve wanted it that way!” Wake up with the NEW Two Girls and a Guy Show Monday through Friday mornings between 6 and 10 on Charleston’s Mix 95.9.
